Hi! I’m Alisa. My husband Mike and I are on an incredible homesteading journey in Central Florida. We want to share with you how we started homesteading, the process we used to achieve our goals, and show how you too can create your homesteading journey.
From growing our own food, cooking from scratch, preserving the harvest, planning a new homestead, then eventually raising animals, we crafted a plan to escape the busyness and hyper-consumerism of our modern society.
Now that we’ve moved out of the city and back to a rural lifestyle, we invite you to join us as we put into practice a more frugal way to live a simpler, healthier, and more purposeful life.

OUR STORY
We’ve always considered ourselves a typical American family, living what we thought was The American Dream. However, The Dream included a lot of payments – for housing, vehicles, credit cards, etc. And plenty of spending with one-click shopping and food on the go. It was consumerism at it’s best.
One evening in 2019, we were discussing all of this, and we realized The Dream we had been taught by society wasn’t what we really wanted. We started exploring other options and stumbled onto the concept of homesteading. It soon became obvious to us that this was the type of lifestyle we were looking for.
Each Sunday evening after that, we sat down and discuss our finances and dreams. Over the next several months, we revised our plans and set solid goals. We brainstormed what we wanted to do on a homestead and made a list of skills that each of us were good at.
Before long, we were shopping around Central Florida for rural land to purchase. We watched the market, worked on our credit score, and paid down debt. Soon, everything started coming together as we developed our plans and goals during our Sunday night meetings.
In the spring of 2022, we finally purchased our 3.3 acres of land and put a house on it! The goals we had set and put into action had finally became a reality.
We immediately got to work putting up fences, building raised garden beds, and installing our food forest. An old single-wide home came with the property, and we retrofitted it to create a workshop for Mike.
So many things happened that first year! Now, we’re sharing what we learned with you. It’s become my mission to teach and inspire others from our experiences, to encourage those who want to become modern homesteaders. We welcome you to join us on our journey.
